Weybourne FC Vs Waterloo

After a great performance in the cup Weybourne looked to continue their form in the league, coming up against bottom of the table Waterloo at Weybourne Lane. Weybourne dominated early exchanges with TOD just shooting wide of the post. The first goal came 15 minutes in when WOD hit a cross from a free kick that saw his brother convert with a faint touch off his head into the net, 1-0. Shortly afterwards Corfield picked out Stone with a precise through ball which the striker tucked away into the corner, 2-0. Weybourne were mounting on the pressure, Stephens went close, shortly after there was another for Stoner after another great ball by Corfield it fell to the striker who slotted it in. The Waterloo defence couldn’t cope with the passing and movement of Weybourne and before they knew it had conceded again, some good work in the box by TOD saw the ball fall to Stoner who lashed into the far corner to complete a fine 1st half hat-rick, 4-0. Waterloo rarely threatened but after a rare mistake in his box, Charles recovered well and put in an excellent 2 footed challenge to ensure a first half clean sheet.

HT 4-0 (T. O’Donnell, Stone 3)

Weybourne began the 2nd half well, keeping the ball well and working the space with Stoner forcing the Waterloo keeper into a good save. After a spell of continued pressure, a Weybourne corner fell loose to Heppell who finished well into the roof of the net from 8yards, 5-0. Weybourne didn’t take their foot of the gas and some great work down the left saw Lau break into the box and be cynically tripped, the ref had no hesitation in awarding the penalty which Lau expertly dispatched into the corner, 6-0. The Weybourne midfield were controlling the game, with TOD and Corfield looking class again, Corfield himself broke through and looked certain to score but was denied by a fine save. With 15 minutes to go a recurrence of a groin injury meant WOD had to limp off, leaving Weybourne a man down, however this didn’t change the game as chances kept coming, with Neudegg going close. A couple of rare Waterloo breaks saw Peters fly in with some quality last ditch tackles, him and Price were proving a stern wall for the oppositions attack. Then a great interchange between Corfield & Stone, ended with the ball moving through to Munford at the far post who hit it first time into the near corner of the net, a great move & good finish, 7-0. Stone then capped off a fine man of the match performance, dribbling into the box and round a defender to cut back to Neudegg who tapped in from close range, 8-0. It was a fine attacking performance by Weybourne who outclassed their opponents in all areas of the pitch.

FT Score 8-0 (T. O’Donnell, Stone 3, Heppell, Lau, Munford, Neudegg)
