Farnborough Athletic Vs Weybourne FC

After the defeat from the previous weekend Weybourne knew this was a game they could win. The game started brightly with Weybourne threatening the Farnborough goal.  A great through ball from Stone led to Munford dummying a shot to get round the defender and then calmly slotting it past the keeper, 0-1. Farnborough Athletic were using their only weapon, the long ball, to try and beat the defence but some great defensive play from Watts and Peters cancelled this out. Next followed a move that Wenger would be proud of. A quick ball to Davies who played it to Munford then across to Green and T O Donnell who spread the play to Emerson who let Stephens loose on the wing who delivered a superb cross to find Stoners head, the ball looped over the keeper and into the far corner, 0-2. Farnborough Athletic who had been completely dominated over up until this point went on a menacing attack another long ball flick on resulted in the attacker being through on goal, the shot was parry'd by Charles and hit Peters leg directing it into his own net, another freak own goal, his 2nd in 2 games! However Peters did not let this effect him and at the next attacking corner popped up at the back post and headed into the roof of the net, 1-3.  Farnborough Athletic then caught Weybourne on the counter attack however a great sliding tackle from Watts who knocked the ball back to Charles was deemed a pass back and a free kick was awarded 7 yds from goal.  With the entire team lined up on the goal line Farnborough Athletic managed to find a gap, 2-3. Munford was then fouled on the edge of the box and quickly O Donnell dispached a quick free kick which looped over  the keeper and into the far corner, 2-4. Farnborough Athletic then had a player sent off for abusive language towards the referee. Soon after, the half time whistle blew.

HT 2-4 (Munford, Stone, Peters, T.O'Donnell)

Second half began and Farnborough weren't going to lay down and started putting on some pressure. Weybourne sharpened their defence which eliminated all threats. However Farnborough did catch Weybourne napping and a brilliant save from Charles prevented a goal. Subs were utilised which saw Munford replaced by W. O'Donnell and Gregor replaced by Nuedegg. Weybourne hit Farnborough on the counter and a high through ball found W O'Donnell who calmly slotted into net, 2-5. Emerson was then replaced by Price due to a groin injury. The second half reached a deadlock with neither side creating much mainly due to Weybourne closing up shop to see the game through. Final whistle blew and Weybourne had revenge after last weeks result.
